Here in Mankato, Minnesota

The Twins Winter Caravan is something that the Twins organization has done since 1961, the first year the Twins moved to Minnesota. On the caravan current Twins players, former players, coaches, the manager and front office personnel have the opportunity to thank the fans in the Upper Midwest for their support throughout the years.

I am currently on the caravan with Matthew LeCroy, Michael Cuddyer, Al Newman, T.C., and some front office personnel. We started the caravan in Minneapolis on Monday and will end it in Spencer, Iowa on Thursday night. Then the weekend belongs to TwinsFest at the Metrodome.

Tonight we are in Mankato, Minnesota with Twins and Baseball Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew joining us. They expect around 800 people to come out to tonight’s banquet. Tonight should be a lot of fun because it’s always an honor to be around Harmon. The “Killer” represents baseball like it should be represented, with class and dignity.

I emcee the events on the caravan and have a lot of fun doing it. Throughout the week we have the opportunity to stop at schools, retirement homes (which are my favorite), radio stations that cover the Twins throughout the baseball season and banquets at the evening functions.

My first Twins caravan was in 1970 and we traveled by car. Now we travel from town to town on a bus that is 45 feet long and has all the luxuries of home. What a way to travel!

The response for all of our visits have been great and everyone is looking forward to another successful season for the Twins.

Thank for reading my column. You are all "Hereby Circled."
